Today’s Throwback Thursday post is going to be a bit different. Β I’ve been a bit distracted this entire week, I’m not going to lie. Β BecauseΒ thisΒ happened.

It still feels a bit surreal. Β Not to mention, I’ve already freaked out at least ten times that I’ve lost the ring (when its been on my finger the entire time or safely tucked away in my bedside table drawer during cooking sessions). Β engagement_ring

The other day, we received a congratulations card from Connor’s grandfather that had the following message, “It’s said that true love is like a falling star. Β How lucky you were to both be in the perfect place at the right time…standing together to catch it.” Β Corny, absolutely! Β But at the end of the day, incredibly true.

Somehow, eight and half years later, and despite all the odds and raised eyebrows, we’veΒ managed to stick together through it all.

It hasn’t always been easy or fun (particularly those four years while attending colleges on opposite sides of the country), but at the end of the day, it came down to one thing. Β We couldn’t imagine our lives without each other. Β ConnorΒ knows me inside and out (for better or worse), pushes me to try new things and step out of my comfort zone (skydiving, for instance, orΒ culinary school!), and generally just gets me.

Plus, we both really, really,Β really love food…which as you know, is sort of the most important thing of all (kidding, sort of).

P.S. Β I promise that this will notΒ turn into a wedding planning blog. Β That’s what secret Pinterest boards are for…
